November 14th is World Diabetes Day. The theme this year is ‘Eyes on Diabetes’ to promote the importance of screening to ensure early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and treatment to reduce the risk of serious complications. 

Statistics indicate than 1 in 2 people living with diabetes is undiagnosed. As part of World Diabetes Day we ask those who may be at risk of diabetes and those already living with diabetes to take action to ensure early diagnosis and treatment of the condition and its complications.

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness and over one third of people with diabetes will develop vision loss. Early detection and treatment can in many cases prevent visual impairment and blindness. Speak to your GP about setting up a GP management plan for timely screening and lifestyle support to prevent complications.
